Local FWBC and some from around the country warm up at a windy Ol’ Man of the Sea Regatta earlier in October.

October 29, 2012 – Fort Worth, Texas. Final preparations are underway at Fort Worth Boat Club for this year’s J/80 North American Championship, November 1-4. Thirty-one boats are currently registered for the event, including last year’s top five finishers at Larchmont Yacht Club in New York. Local businessmen Glenn Darden and Reese Hillard are defending national champions and ready to once again put their boat, Le Tigre through the paces with some very tough competition.
A practice race is scheduled for Thursday afternoon on Eagle Mountain Lake with the official competition set to begin Friday morning at 10:00 AM. FWBC Commodore Philip Schutts shared his excitement in hosting this regatta. “This great event will allow us to welcome sailors from around the country and showcase not only our great club, but also our wonderful city. We are extremely honored to have been chosen to host the 2012 regatta and proud to have many FWBC members representing us in this competition.”
Event organizers, sailors and race officials will closely monitor the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in the northeast. Several will face extra challenges in traveling to the event and the members of FWBC stand ready to assist in any way necessary.
